BY A STAFF REPORTER,Siddhipur (Lalitpur), July 20: A soul-stirring musical event was organised amid the enchanting alleys and historical charm of Thasi, which is known as Siddhipur these days. 

According to Kiran Nepali, director of Project Sarangi Foundation, the event aimed to raise awareness for the preservation of Siddhipur's local instruments, orchestrating a harmonious celebration of Nepal's musical heritage.

Renowned band Fusion Jatra shared the stage with the local Siddhipur Sanskriti Samrakchyan Samuha, showcasing the brilliance of traditional musical instruments. The stage was graced with a repertoire of Nepali and Newari folk tunes, performed on various traditional musical instruments such as Sarangi, Basuri, Madal, Newari Flute, Dhime, Khin, Paschima, Nyao Khin, Bhushya, Taa, and Tabala, which mesmerised the audience, transporting them to a world of musical bliss.

Each traditional instrument played during the musical extravaganza served as a poignant reminder that those musical treasures were not just pieces of art but symbols of identity and heritage.

“The mission of the event is to evoke a sense of pride and responsibility among community members in safeguarding their rich cultural legacy,” director Nepali said in a press release issued after the event. 

The event also unveiled "Surya Nepal Gatha- Sarangi ko Katha," a multifaceted project with the mission to reignite interest in traditional folk music and empower the new generation to carry the torch of Nepal's musical heritage. 

“The profound impact of this event will undoubtedly resonate within the hearts and minds of the community, inspiring further initiatives to protect and promote Nepal's musical heritage,” director Nepali added.
