Police arrested the accused BCL leader after filing of a case

Chhatra League has suspended a local leader of Kurigram's Phulbari upazila, who was arrested on charge of raping two teenage boys.
The accused Chhatra League leader is Jayanta Kumar Mohant, vice-president of Phulbari Sadar Union Chhatra League unit.
This information was disclosed in a press release signed by Upazila Chhatra League President Taukir Hasan Tamal and General Secretary Moshabbir Rahman Haven.
On Monday afternoon, mother and grandfather of the two victims filed a case against Jayanta at Phulbari police station.
Later, a team of police arrested Jayanta in the evening.
According to the case statement, Jayanta allegedly raped the two teenagers in his own house after threatening them on Sunday.
Before his arrest, the accused denied the allegations against him.
He also claimed that he was a victim of conspiracy.
Taukir Hasan Tamal said: "The organization will not take responsibility for anyone's personal complaint. A case has been filed against Jayanta, the police have also arrested him. A proper investigation is now required.”
Phulbari Health Complex Medical Officer Dr Anwar said: "Initially, there are signs that point towards rape. We have sent the rape survivors to Kurigram Hospital.”
Phulbari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazlur Rahman said: "A case was filed on Monday afternoon by the family of the two victims. Later, the accused was arrested and taken to the police station.”
