A local businessman died due to smoke inhalation while extinguishing a fire that broke out at a cotton warehouse in Bhola sadar on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim 45.
According to fire service sources, the fire broke out at the warehouse around 10:30pm from an electric short circuit.
On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 12:30am after two hours of frantic effort.
Quoting the fire service, Shahin Fakir, officer-in-charge of Bhola sadar police station, said that five houses were also gutted in the fire.
Ibrahim died after inhaling smoke while he was helping the fire service to bring the fire under control, said the OC.
