Vice President Faisal Naseem, on Sunday, has remarked that China contributed immensely to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives.
He made the remark during a meeting with China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA)’s Vice Chairman Deng Boqin on Sunday at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, VP Faissal and Deng reflected on the Maldives' long-standing and strong bilateral relationship with China - spanning over 50 years. They also highlighted the improved relations and the commitments fulfilled over the previous years.

VP Faisal, also stressing China’s immense continuation to Maldives’ socioeconomic development, assured that the Maldives would uphold the strong friendship built over the years.
Both of them also spoke extensively on areas of mutual including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure development, climate action, and adaptation.
On this note, VP Faisal underscored that Maldives needed the support of all its partners to deal with the uncertainties of climate change, especially in accessing finance to build resilient communities.
Concluding their meeting, VP Faisal and Deng reiterated their commitment to collaborating closely to strengthen the current relationships and emphasize their enthusiasm for additional collaboration.
