Nepal has continued its undefeated journey in the Asia Qualifiers of the ICC U-19 Men's World Cup.
Nepal defeated Malaysia in order to win the fourth consecutive victory. Malaysia lost by 10 wickets. Nepal completed the target of 73 runs given by Malaysia in 9 overs in the match at the cricket ground in Maleka, UAE.
For Nepal, Deepak Bohora remained unbeaten with 38 runsoff 29 balls, while Ajun Kumal remained unbeaten with 21 runs off 25 balls.
Before that, Malaysia, who batted first, scored only 72 runs in 35.3 overs. For Malaysia, Muhammad Akram Malek scored 26 runs while Muhammad Sayahir scored 12 runs. Apart from Muhammad Harisan who scored 12 runs, no other batsman could score runs in double figures. For Nepal, Dipesh Kandel took 4 wickets for 11 runs in 10 overs. Deepesh bowled 60 balls and scored 53 balls.
Akash Chand took 3 wickets with 9 runs in 4 overs. Akash bowled 27 balls and scored 20 balls. Milan Bohora took 2 wickets for 8 runs in 9 overs. He bowled 54 balls and scored 48 balls. Subas Bhandari took 1 wicket for 32 runs in 9 overs. He bowled 54 balls and scored 40 balls.
Along with Nepal, Singapore, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the host UAE are participating in the competition. The top team from the round-robin tournament will qualify for the U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2024.
