The haze of Kathmandu finally dissipated, and the affectionate and honest Nepalese people did not care about the repeated epidemics. They ravaged humans endlessly, and took to the streets in festive costumes one by one. At noon on April 11, a group of South Asian Network TV reporters squeezed past the shuttle crowd and came to the Kathmandu Horse Racing Festival.
In the afternoon, the sun is shining and the breeze is scented with red petals with fragrance, which restores the charming, prosperous and various styles of the city.
At about 2:40 in the afternoon, beautifully dressed and European-style horse-drawn carriages approached, and the melodious sound of horses hooves on the asphalted road, making you feel as if you are back to the ancient and legendary era: A hundred years ago, the number of legends,a demon named "Tundi" wreaked havoc in the Kathmandu Valley, bringing disaster and terror to the people. Later, the warriors united and organized, and finally did their best to kill the demon on the open lawn of Tudikhel. After the victory, the Newarians danced on the body of the devil, riding a horse to smash the remains of the devil to celebrate the victory.
The local people believe that the devil’s remains are still buried in the same place. If it cannot be trampled on by horses every year, the devil will resurrect and retaliate wildly. To commemorate the courage of the ancestors and prevent the demons from coming back, the horse racing festival is held every year in Tudikhel Square. The faster the horse runs, the better the suppression of demons!
Nepal is a country where all people believe in religion, so many activities related to religion have become national festivals. There are many national festivals in Nepal, and there are as many as 300 national festivals every year. Although Nepal is relatively backward economically in the world, the national spirit, culture and customs are the most abundant. The people here have very low requirements for life. The Buddha said that there is no desire if there is no desire. Therefore, the people of Nepal have a strong sense of happiness, just like the pure air in the morning in Kathmandu, transparent, and can be looked directly at.
The event officially started at 3 o'clock. Because there were too many people participating in the event and the Nepalese government officials came to observe the ceremony, the security measures were extremely strict. Our party was unable to enter, and I felt a bit regretful. But we think it's good to feel this kind of strong cultural atmosphere and process, as the result is not important.
At the event today, President Bhandari, Prime Minister Oli and other senior government officials participated in the commemorative event, which embodies the national and democratic spirit of Nepal. Ordinary people have fun with government officials.
