SATV 20 May, Kathmandu: Domestic and foreign investment of above Rs. 200 billion has been proposed during the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2024/25.
According to the monthly report released by the Department of Industry (DoI), domestic and foreign industries with an investment of Rs. 200.05 billion for 554 industries have been proposed as of mid-May of the current fiscal year 2024/25.
Of these, 51 large, 40 medium and 463 small scale industries have been registered.
Similarly, 68 new industries of domestic and foreign investment have been registered in the month of Baishak (from April 14 to May 14, 2025). They have committed to invest Rs. 17.18 billion in these industries.
It has been mentioned that 28,993 people will be provided direct employment in the domestic and foreign projects that have been registered and proposed for investment in a period of ten months of the current fiscal year.
Category-wise, most attraction in industry registration is seen in tourism sector during the review period. A total of 207 industries with the investment proposal of Rs. 34.87 billion have been registered in tourism sector.
The second place goes to the ICT sector where 124 industries are registered with the proposed investment of Rs. 1.03 billion.
Similarly, 95 industries with the proposed investment of Rs. 34.86 billion are registered in manufacturing and 86 industries related to manufacturing sector with the proposed investment of Rs. 30.95 billion are registered during the review period.
SATV 20 May, Kathmandu: Likewise, 23 industries related to energy sector are registered making the investment proposal of Rs. 95.20 billion.
A total of nine industries related to agro and forest sector, nine industries related to minerals and one industry related to infrastructure sector are registered during the review period.
Nepal's receive FDI commitment of Rs. 57.06 billion The foreign investors have made their commitment to invest around Rs. 57.06 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.
In the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, foreign investment commitments worth Rs. 57.06 billion were made for 576 industries. They have also committed to provide jobs for 13,843 people in these industries.
According to the Department, foreign investment worth only around Rs. 9.09 million has been committed to establish 97 industries and businesses in Nepal in a single month of Baishak (from April 14 to May 14).
During the review period of the current fiscal year, the FDI worth Rs. 3.37 billion for 282 industries has been received commitment through the automatic route.
Similarly, the FDI worth Rs. 53.70 billion for 294 industries has been committed through the approval routed by mid-May of the current fiscal year.
