KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Arun Chaudhary, the suspended member of the House of Representatives, who won the election from Kailali 2, will be taken to the district court in Kailali today for recording his statement.
Demanding the release of Chaudhary, who was arrested from Banke on February 2, an extradition warrant was registered in the High Court Dipayal on February 5 and a petition of arrest warrant was registered on February 10.
An order was issued to Arun Chaudhary to appear before the district court for a statement today in the case of the writ petition of habeas corpus filed at the bench of Desh Bahadur Sarki on February 12. Chaudhary will give his statement through video technology from Kailali court in the case which is being heard in Dipayal High Court.
The Kailali District Court, on April 22, 2013 sentenced three persons, including Chaudhary, to six months' imprisonment and to pay Rs 818,423 to a victim whose tractor (Lu 2 Ta 211) was torched on August 19, 2009.
