A construction crane involved in building a food storage silo collapsed onto a nearby house in Daulatpur’s Maheswarpasha CSD (food warehouse) in Khulna Wednesday morning.
There were no individuals inside the room at the time of the incident.
However, three people fell ill due to the loud noise created by the crane's collapse.
Regional Food Controller Abdus Salam said that the accident occurred early in the morning when the crane malfunctioned, possibly due to loosen nuts and bolts. The crane collapsed and landed on a house, but since there were no people in the room, no injuries were reported. The situation is currently under close observation.
Imran Hossain, an engineer from Max Group, the contractor responsible for the silo construction, said: “The crane accident resulted from vibrations during the construction work. Fortunately, the collapsed crane did not cause harm to anyone in the nearby abandoned houses. However, the loud noise led to panic and illness in three individuals. Two of them have recovered after receiving first aid, while one person named Sarjit Kumar has been admitted to the hospital.”
