Nepal has successfully bagged the bronze medal in Women’s Kabbadi sports which is the first medal Nepal has won in this ongoing Asian Games. This is the first time Nepali women have taken part in kabaddi in the Asian Games.
Nepal got defeated in the semifinals on Friday with its opponent team of India by 61-17 points limiting Nepal to bronze and a step back to play for gold.
Nepal had entered the semi-final as a first runner up under group 'B'. Similarly, India had entered semi-final as the winner of group 'A'.
All four teams playing semi-final in kabaddi are entitled to medals.
Group 'B' has Iran and Bangladesh as well. As the winner of group 'B', Iran had entered the semifinal. Now, it is playing with the first runner up of group 'A', Chinese Taipei.
The players in the Nepali team are Menuka Kumari Rajbanshi (captain), Manmati Bista, Jayanti Badu, Sunita Thapa, Rabina Chaudhari, Anuja Kulung Rai, Ganga Rai, Nitu Gurung, Isha Rai, Arpana Chaudhari, Sirjana Tharu and Kalawati Pant. Team instructor is Bishnu Datt Bhatta.
