Three individuals of the same family were killed when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a tipper truck at Thulhiriya on the Colombo-Kurunegala road early this morning.

Police said the father (40), mother (39) and their son (13) were killed in the tragedy which occurred while they were returning home after attending a funeral in Galle.

The tipper-truck driver was arrested in connection with the accident.
