Bangladesh people will pay for 83% of the budget, says the minister
Law minister Anisul Huq on Friday said that BNP used to make the budget with begged money from donor countries while Awami League always prepared the budget with people's money.
“This has become possible because Bangladesh has learned to stand on its own feet today,” said the law minister while he was speaking as the chief guest at a meeting in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria.
Anisul also mentioned that in 2006, BNP prepared a budget of a little more than Tk63,000 crores. And this time Sheikh Hasina government proposed a budget of Tk7,61,785 crore.
During the BNP rule, the countries from where BNP used to take loans were called donors, he said.
Basically they were donors of the BNP. And their meetings were held in Paris, not in Bangladesh. Donors used to call their donation as alms. In the budget made with this money, it would have been written that 80% of the budget of Tk63,000 crores will come from abroad, and 20% will be given by the people of the country. But today that picture has changed, said Anisul.
The people of Bangladesh will pay for 83% of the budget of June 1. Only 17% will come from foreign, said the minister.
