Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Serbia on an official visit.
According to the foreign ministry, Shahid arrived in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, on Monday.
During the visit, Shahid will hold bilateral discussions with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić.
He will also sign five key agreements between Maldives and Serbia.
The five agreements are:
1. An agreement on abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports .
2. An agreement on trade, investment and economic cooperation
3. An air services agreement
4. Memorandum of Understanding between the foreign ministries of Maldives and Serbia on cooperation in the field of diplomatic education
5. Memorandum of Understanding between the sports ministries of Maldives and Serbia in the field of sports
Shahid’s current visit to Serbia marks his second official visit to the country.
According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, the visit “signifies a step towards greater bilateral exchange between Serbia and Maldives.”
Shahid will conclude his visit Wednesday.
