Indian police have arrested two Nepalis in possession of hashish from Dharchula of Pithoragarh district in India.
A special operation team of the Uttarakhand police arrested the duo along with about 4 kilograms of hashish on Monday evening.
According to the Uttarakhand Police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Umesh Bahadur Pal, 30, of Paunekhola in Mahakali Municipality-6, and Rabi Kunwar, 26, of Pipaulchauri in Duhu Rural Municipality-1. The police seized 3.680 kg of hashish from the arrestees.
The Uttarakhand Police informed that a drug trafficking case has been filed against both individuals under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Police suspected that the duo smuggled the hashish to India through the Darchula border.
Nepal Police personnel posted at the Khalanga-based Nepal-India border point informed that security check at the border point has been tightened following the incident.
