American International University Bangladesh (AIUB)
The 21st convocation ceremony of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) will be held at 11am on Sunday on its permanent campus.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will preside over the ceremony and confer degrees on the graduating students, reads a press release issued on Saturday.
Prof Kazuo Yamamoto, president of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, will also grace the program as the convocation speaker.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury will be present as a special guest.
Ishtiaque Abedin, chairman of the AIUB Board of Trustees, Abdur Rahman, pro vice chancellor of AIUB, and Dr Carmen Z Lamagna, member of the AIUB Board of Trustees, will also deliver speeches.
A total of 4,722 graduates, who have successfully completed all academic requirements in various disciplines of the bachelor's and master's programs, will be conferred degrees at the 21st convocation.
Gold medals and other academic awards will be given to deserving students for their excellence in academic performance, distinction in leadership programs and other extracurricular activities.
The members of the trustee board, treasurer, members of the Syndicate and Academic Council, deans of different faculties, registrar, faculty and other members of the AIUB family along with many local and foreign dignitaries, UGC officials, vice chancellors and representatives of public and private universities, students and parents are expected to be present at the convocation.
Besides, representatives of print and electronic media will be present at the ceremony.
