Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Leader and MP Udaya Gammanpila yesterday claimed that four projects have been proposed by the recently visited US defence delegation that will turn Sri Lanka into an American colony.
“If these proposals are implemented, Sri Lanka is going to suffer the same fate as Panama,” the MP said during a press conference yesterday.
One proposal is the establishment of a special intelligence information centre where all the intelligence information received by Sri Lanka should be shared with the United States.
MP Gammanpila said that providing intelligence information to a country like the USA is endangering the national security of Sri Lanka.
“This is a twenty-year-old proposal. In 2002, when the current President was the Prime Minister, a CIA agent came to implement the project but it had to be abandoned due to the objection of Sri Lankan security chiefs”, he said.
Another proposal is to give their biometric immigration control system as a gift to Sri Lankan airports. According to the proposals, that data bank should be given access rights to America. Because of that, the United States receives extremely unique data such as fingerprints, eye marks and hair patterns of all air passengers coming to Sri Lanka, he said.
He also said that the proposal was also presented in 2003 and was cancelled due to the objection of our security chiefs. “If we are going to implement this proposal, China, India and Russia may be angry with us.” The MP stated.
